New faces, and bananna boy strikes again!

March 2008 - the penultimate open of the season before the summer break.

A few new faces this race, and a few familiar friends. The qualifying was a close event, the top 11 drivers all within a second of each other!

Mark T was the driver of the day. He equalled the track record on the 1000m bridge circuit, and managed to grab the top podium place of the main event, putting in the 2nd quickest lap yet on the 1200m circuit. Although new to the Open races, he's obviously not new to Karting!

In 2nd place was Pete R - proving he's lost none of his edge, in his year plus absence from the race events.

In 3rd place was Chris B, continuing his recent run of medal positions. It should be noted that Chris again set the 1200m lap record with a blazing 59.72 - shaving five hundredth's of a second of his previous best. Were it not for an unfortunate red flag on lap 27, Chris may have well grabbed the top place.

Talking of the unfortunate red flag - the banana boy himself, otherwise known a Nick H struck again! Pushing his kart to the max around the high speed 'Mazda' corner, he managed to rip out his track rod, which parked him nicely at a 45 degree vertical angle in the hedge. Nice to see, he's on his normal consistent form! Lol.
